Hi Guys,
Forgive me for not posting for awhie. More changes. In addtion to the homework assignment, I will begin posting a brief posting of what we did in class today.
Daily Check: You were asked to define exothermic, endothermic, system, surrondings, and heat.
Today in class we discussed:
State Functions: Here is a definition-In thermodynamics, a state function, or state quantity, is a property of a system that depends only on the current state of the system, not on the way in which the system got to that state. A state function describes the equilibrium state of a system. For example, internal energy, enthalpy and entropy are state quantities because they describe quantitatively an equilibrium state of thermodynamic systems. At the same time, mechanical work and heat are process quantities because they describe quantitatively the transition between equilibrium states of thermodynamic systems.
Change in Enthalpy: Enthalpy deals with the change in energy of a system through the release of heat. You learned how to calculate how to enthalpy from amounts of chemicals in the system.
Homework:
Calorimetry: 39, 47, 49, 51, 55, 59, 61, 63
See you all later.
